Egress Specifications*

|
When it comes to homes, more and more municipalities are
requiring more than one exit out of a basement. These exits, called
Egress, can be an exit, like stairs that lead to an upper level, and a
window or door that leads directly to the outside. Common egress
codes require that the window has an unobstructed opening not less than
20" x 24" irrespective of width or height, and a square foot
opening of 5.7 square feet. Unlimited, Inc. manufactures two styles
of window that meet common egress code for basements, sliders and the
in-swing egress window. The sizes and specifications of these
windows are below. Please check your local building codes to
determine your local egress code.
