2009/2010 Tax Credit for Windows

With the signing of the new stimulus bill on February 17th, significant changes were made to the energy efficiency tax credits for replacement windows.

Tax credit RAISED from 10% to 30% on the purchase price of windows

$200 cap on windows has been RAISED to $1500

Windows must be installed by December 31, 2010

Windows purchased before June 1, 2009 require the homeowner to save the NFRC/Energy Star Label from windows OR have a copy of our Manufacturer Certification Statement

Windows purchased after June 1, 2009 require the homeowner to save a Manufacturer Certification Statement

2009 improvements will be claimed on 2009 taxes

IRS tax form 5695 will be available late 2009 or early 2010

Both U-Factor and SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) must be equal to or lower than 0.30
