ENERGY STAR was introduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1992.

ENERGY STAR identifies and promotes energy-efficient products in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Independent testing is done by the National Fenestration Rating Council to measure the energy performance of a window.
EPA partners with the U.S. Department of Energy in 1996 to promote the ENERGY STAR label.
In 1998 windows become an ENERGY STAR labeled product. 
2001 - Unlimited, Inc. manufactures windows that receive the ENERGY STAR label.
